A new boiler is one of the most expensive household purchases you’ll make – so it’s important to choose the best new boiler for your home, at the right price.
The size of your boiler, the type, construction and energy efficiency will all have an impact on your home and your energy bills.
Fuel type – in the UK most households have a gas boiler and heating system. However there are areas in the UK that are not connected to the gas network and so alternative fuels like oil, liquid petroleum gas, or wood need to be considered.
Boiler type – with a gas boiler, there are 2 types: a combination (or combi) boiler, which provides heat for your radiators and domestic hot water on demand or a heat-only boiler, which is connected to a hot water storage system.
Boiler efficiency – your choice of boiler and its efficiency are directly linked to your energy bills and carbon footprint.
At Range Heating we often get asked which boiler is best. Different people will each give you different answers and most installers will have their preferred brand.
Worcester and Vaillant are the top two in the UK. Vaillant won the Which best buy awards 2015 2016 and that’s a pretty good guide.
However, it’s not this simple. You can have the best boiler in the world but if it’s not installed correctly and the system isn’t cleaned out then the boiler won’t last very long and you’ll have many problems. For this reason it’s just as important to choose the right installer for your new boiler. A local installer is a good choice, as they’re always around if you need them. Also, we would recommend one with a sign written van as they’re not going to disappear after the installation and they obviously care about their brand and therefore their customers
